A message from founder, Kennedy Smith:

 

I have been in band since 4th grade and started in the LWSD elementary band program. Unfortunately, as this program no longer exists, 4th and 5th graders will not have the same opportunity. This loss affects both the students that would have participated in the program, and the middle and high school programs that they feed into.

 

Band, and all the arts, create amazing experiences and communities. They provide creative outlets that attract all different kinds of people, and in doing so make unlikely connections in a way I feel is unique to the arts. The band communities that I have found myself in have profoundly changed me, and I want to make sure those opportunities are open to those who come after me.   

 

And this is why I created this program; to replace the loss and to keep arts programs alive and well for all students.
